Free 14-Hour Real Estate CE for Englewood, FL Agents
Englewood sits on Lemon Bay and straddles the Sarasota and Charlotte County line, so agents here often work listings in both counties, from Manasota Key and the Lemon Bay waterfront to Rotonda West, Placida and Cape Haze. Wherever your listings are, Florida license renewal comes down to one requirement: 14 hours of continuing education every two-year renewal cycle. Sunstate Real Estate School offers the full 14-hour course online and free of charge to Sarasota and Charlotte County agents, sponsored by DCA Florida Homes, a local new-construction builder in North Port and Port Charlotte. No tuition, no certificate fee, no upsell.
What the 14 hours cover
- 3 hours of Core Law: recent changes to Florida real estate license law and Florida Real Estate Commission (FREC) rules.
- 3 hours of Ethics and Business Practices: handling client funds, disclosures, advertising and professional conduct the way Florida expects.
- 8 hours of specialty education: practical topics that help you serve buyers and sellers in today's market.
Together these add up to the 14 hours Florida requires of sales associates and brokers for each renewal after the first. See the full breakdown on our Florida CE requirements page.
When Englewood agents need to renew
Florida real estate licenses for sales associates and brokers expire on either March 31 or September 30, every two years. Your expiration date is shown on your license and in your account at MyFloridaLicense.com, the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) portal. Finish your 14 hours before that date, then renew with DBPR.
If a license is not renewed on time it becomes involuntary inactive, and you cannot practice real estate until it is reactivated, which can mean extra education and fees. Starting a few weeks early is the easiest way to avoid that. Our license renewal guide walks through each step.
First renewal? Post-licensing comes first
Newly licensed agents do not take the 14-hour CE for their first renewal. Florida requires post-licensing education before the first renewal: 45 hours for sales associates and 60 hours for brokers. After you complete post-licensing and renew once, the 14-hour CE applies to every renewal after that.
Why Englewood agents choose this course
- Free: DCA Florida Homes covers the cost for Sarasota and Charlotte County agents.
- Online and self-paced: work from home, the office or your phone between showings.
- Short unit quizzes and a final exam keep the material clear and organized.
- Certificate of completion when you finish, for your records.
- Provided by Sunstate Real Estate School, a Florida real estate school.
Working in Englewood on both sides of the county line
Because Englewood is split between two counties, a single week can mean showings in Sarasota County on one side of town and Charlotte County on the other, plus trips to Venice, North Port and Port Charlotte, where new single-family construction continues. Your Florida license and CE requirement are the same in either county, so one course covers you. If your business reaches further, see our pages for Venice agents, North Port agents, Sarasota County and Charlotte County.
