Free 14-Hour Real Estate CE for North Port, FL Agents
North Port is one of the busiest places to sell real estate in Sarasota County, and the agents who work here juggle resale listings, new construction, vacant lots and buyers relocating from out of state. Renewal time should not get in the way. DCA Florida Homes sponsors a free, fully online 14-hour continuing education course for Florida sales associates and brokers, provided by Sunstate Real Estate School, so North Port agents can complete their renewal hours at no cost and on their own schedule.
Who this course is for
This page is for licensed Florida sales associates and brokers who live or work in North Port and nearby communities such as Venice, Englewood, Port Charlotte and the rest of Sarasota and Charlotte Counties. If you are approaching your second or later license renewal, the 14-hour CE requirement applies to you. Brand-new licensees approaching their first renewal complete post-licensing education instead (see below).
What Florida requires at renewal
Florida real estate licenses renew every two years. After the first renewal, sales associates and brokers must complete 14 hours of FREC-approved continuing education during each renewal period:
- 3 hours of Core Law
- 3 hours of Ethics and Business Practices
- 8 hours of specialty education
The Core Law course may be taken in each year of the renewal period, but it still counts as 3 hours toward the 14-hour total. Our free course is built to cover the full 14-hour package in one place.
Renewal deadlines to watch
Florida real estate licenses expire on either March 31 or September 30, depending on when you were first licensed. Your CE must be completed before your license expiration date, so plan to finish your course with time to spare. If a license is not renewed on time it becomes involuntarily inactive, which means you cannot practice until it is brought current. Read our Florida license renewal guide for the full step-by-step process.
First renewal? Post-licensing comes first
Newly licensed sales associates complete 45 hours of post-licensing education before their first renewal, and new brokers complete 60 hours. The 14-hour CE requirement starts with the renewal after that. If you are not sure which applies to you, check your license record or see our Florida CE requirements page.

Why North Port agents take it now
Fall and winter are busy months in Southwest Florida, with seasonal residents and relocating buyers arriving. Finishing your CE before season keeps your calendar open for showings and closings. Because the course is online, you can complete a unit between appointments and come back later right where you left off.
For local context, read our North Port real estate market notes.
Checking your CE hours
Once you finish, completion is reported for your license, and you can review your continuing education record by logging in to your account on the Florida DBPR online services portal before you renew. Keep your certificate of completion for your records.
