How to Check Your Florida Real Estate CE Hours with DBPR
Last updated: October 12, 2026
Before you renew a Florida real estate license, you need to know that your 14 hours of continuing education are actually on record with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). DBPR tracks continuing education electronically, and you can review the hours reported under your license yourself. This guide explains where to look, how long reporting takes, and what to do if something is missing.
Why checking your CE hours matters
Florida sales associate and broker licenses renew every two years and expire on March 31 or September 30, depending on when the license was first issued. There is no grace period. If the renewal requirements, including your continuing education, are not met by the expiration date, the license becomes involuntarily inactive and you cannot practice real estate until it is reactivated. Checking your record a few weeks before the deadline gives you time to fix a problem while it is still easy to fix.
What counts toward the 14 hours
For each renewal after your first, Florida requires 14 hours of continuing education: 3 hours of Core Law, 3 hours of Ethics & Business Practices, and 8 hours of specialty education. Your first renewal is different. It requires post-licensing education instead: 45 hours for sales associates and 60 hours for brokers. DBPR does not treat post-licensing courses as continuing education, so those hours usually do not appear as CE hours on the portal. For the full rules, see our Florida CE requirements guide and our Florida license renewal guide.
How to check your CE hours online
- 1
Go to MyFloridaLicense.com, DBPR's official online services portal.
- 2
Log in to your account. If you have never set one up, register using your license information.
- 3
Open your real estate license record and review the continuing education hours reported under it.
- 4
Compare what you see with your course completion certificates. Your Core Law, Ethics & Business Practices and specialty hours should add up to 14.
DBPR's portal is the official record of the CE hours reported for your license. Make it a habit to check it after every course, not just before your deadline.
How long it takes for completed hours to appear
Hours do not appear the moment you finish a course. Schools and course providers are required to report course attendance to DBPR electronically within 5 business days after the course completion date. Correspondence courses are reported by the fifth day of the month after you complete them. If you finish a course just before your license expires, the hours may not be visible yet even though you completed the course on time. Finishing early avoids that stress.
What to do if your hours are missing
Wait for the reporting window to pass: 5 business days for most courses, or the fifth of the following month for correspondence courses.
Confirm the course was completed under the correct name and license number.
Contact the school that provided the course and ask it to confirm it reported your completion. Have your completion certificate ready.
If the school confirms it reported the course and the hours still do not show, contact the DBPR Division of Real Estate at 850-487-1395.
Keep your completion certificates
DBPR monitors the continuing education of real estate licensees and may audit records. The Division of Real Estate recommends that licensees keep a paper copy of each course completion certificate. Save a PDF and a printed copy of every certificate you earn, including the certificate you receive when you finish our free 14-hour course.
