How the Free 14-Hour Florida CE Course Works
This free online course covers the full 14 hours of continuing education a Florida sales associate or broker needs to renew an active license. It is provided by Sunstate Real Estate School (DBPR Approved Provider # ZH1002805) and sponsored free by DCA Florida Homes. Here is exactly what happens from the moment you enroll to the moment your certificate lands in your inbox.
Step 1: Enroll in about two minutes
Go to the enrollment page and enter your full legal name, Florida license number, mailing address and phone number. Your license number is required so your completed hours can be reported for CE credit. There is no cost to enroll, complete the course or receive your certificate, and no credit card is ever requested. Promotional texts from DCA Florida Homes are optional and are not required to take the course.
Step 2: Work through 14 self-paced units
The course is split into 14 units. Each unit includes a PDF textbook, an audio lecture you can listen to on the go, and an end-of-unit quiz. Progress saves automatically, so you can stop and resume on any device. There is no enrollment expiration; access lasts as long as you need it. Together the units cover the three parts Florida requires: 3 hours of Core Law, 3 hours of Ethics and Business Practices and 8 hours of specialty education.
Step 3: Pass each unit quiz at 80%
A score of 80% or higher on the end-of-unit quiz completes that unit and unlocks the next one. Quiz retakes are unlimited, so if you miss the mark, review the unit and try again.
Step 4: Pass one final exam
After all 14 units you take one of five final exam versions (I through V), each with 30 questions. You need 80% or higher on just one version. If you do not pass, you can immediately try another version, with no limit on retakes.
Step 5: Get your certificate and credit
When you pass the final exam your completion is recorded and a certificate is emailed to you showing your name, license number, completion date and final exam score. Sunstate Real Estate School reports your completion to DBPR. A few business days later, confirm the hours posted to your license using our guide on how to check your CE hours with DBPR, then renew your license with DBPR before your deadline.
When to finish
Florida real estate licenses renew every two years on March 31 or September 30, depending on when the license was first issued. Do not wait until the last week: leave time for the hours to post before you renew. If this is your first renewal, you need post-licensing education instead of the 14-hour CE. Brokers and sales associates take the same 14 hours of CE.
Why is it free?
DCA Florida Homes, a new-construction builder in North Port and Port Charlotte, sponsors the course for Florida agents. The sponsor provides sponsorship support only and does not influence the curriculum or how credit is determined. Taking the course carries no obligation to buy, refer or recommend DCA Florida Homes products.
